Barbara Allen Biography

Born in the Mojave Dessert in 1950, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. At the age of 14, I started working for my mother's interior decoration business of which I later become a partner. I have always appreciated the complexities of patterns. To this day I can get lost in the beautiful feeling I get when I see a breathtaking silk floral print or the way colors compliment each other in a vibrant paisley pattern.

I have always enjoyed painting at different times of my life but have been painting every day (and many nights) for three years now. With no formal training, I consider my work to be happy, some soft and fluffy, but most of all I think that my work is whimsical.
